Sunday was our Ward Primary Sacrament Meeting program, and it was fantastic! The theme this year is "My Eternal Family" and we have been learning about how the gospel of Jesus Christ strengthens our family. We tried to be as prepared as we could be as a Presidency - and with the help of our amazing teachers and children, it was a total success! All the Primary kids were great, and their hard work really paid off.
This was Jacob's first time participating in the program, and he loved it! A few weeks before the event Jacob was asked to sing a solo of the song "To Think About Jesus", and he said he would do it. We practiced together at home, and he had 2 Sundays of practice with the rest of the Primary kids in the chapel with the microphone. Every time he practiced he did a great job, and did not show one bit of fear or even hesitation. I prayed about how to help him prepare and considered talking with him about how it might be different because the chapel would be filled with people watching him. Well, time went on, and every time I would pray about it, I just had the feeling to hold off on the talk. Well...the talk never happened. I have to admit I was nervous for him all Sunday morning, but he was as calm and happy as ever. When it came time, he stood up there, smiled and looked right at everyone and sang his song as clearly and sweetly as I have ever heard him before. He was on pitch, kept the rhythm and timing, it was like he had known it for years. He was amazing! Of course, I cried :). We talked about it later and I asked him how he felt while he was singing. He said "Mommy, I felt really good!" I told him that his song was like a testimony and that he helped us all to feel the Holy Ghost in the meeting, and he smiled and said "Your welcome, Mommy, I felt the Holy Ghost, too.".
I know there are talents and gifts I have yet to discover in Jacob, but I sure had help seeing some of them during on that Sunday morning. I thank Heaven each day for that little man - and each day I usually end up pleading with Heaven for patience and guidance to be his mother...and thankfully we have a loving Father in Heaven who wants us both to succeed, and help is always there. :)

WOW! I can't wait to be a mom! What a wonderful little spirit you have been blessed with!
What a sweet post! That would have been amazing to see! Calvin has a little speaking part in ours, a couple weeks from now. I always get nervous for him, but everything always turns out well. Congratulations Jacob on your awesome solo!
Ruth, this was such a sweet post! I loved reading it. Moments like this make being a mom the best job it the world! I am in awe that Jacob had the courage to stand up and sing in front of all those people! Good job Jacob!
Jacob sounded beautiful singing that sweet song. It was really nice of Michael and Jacob to bring us cookies after church (they were yummy too). Charles asked for "those cookies that Jacob's dad brought".
