We were all exited for Jacob's birthday
! We invited our family and some good friends over to the pool to swim and have cake and ice cream. Jacob got a new tricycle from Mommy and Daddy and loves it! He was riding it right away, and even rode it over to the pool. Grandma and Grandpa Clifford, Aunt Vera and her girls, Uncle Joseph's family, Gary and Rachel, Jason, Katie and Lucy, as well as the Eagar, Eliason and McConkie families came to have fun with us!
Michael made Jacob's birthday cake - it was two 9x13 cakes side by side decorated with characters from the movie Cars. Jacob loved it! The other kids loved it, too. After Jacob blew out the candles he wanted to help give some to everyone - but as soon as he had his piece of cake in front of him, he was happy to let me handle it.
Jacob could not decide what to do at the pool, he went back and forth from the pool to the tricycle. He loved beingI have to say it was hard at first to watch this sudden burst of independence, but I am very happy and proud of him for wanting to take so many steps for himself.
That morning when Jacob woke up, we sang "Happy Birthday" to him in bed- he was so excited to have his birthday. A few nights before we were singing "I Love to See the Temple" and Jacob told me he wanted to go to the temple. I explained that after he is baptized and after he turns 12 years old, he can talk with the Bishop to get a recommend to go to the temple with Mom and Dad. The morning of his birthday he woke up and told me "Mom, look! I grew up! I am 12! I am going to the temple!" It was a happy moment for me.
Jacob had lots of friends and cousins to help him open presents, they all had a fun time playing. Jacob turning 3 was a turning point for me as a mom - he is not even a toddler anymore! We have already had fun doing new things like playing games like Chutes and Ladders, Memory, "Checker Ups" (aka: Connect Four) and Barrel of Monkeys.
