Well, I have treats, underwear, sticker charts and special potty time books...here we go again! I am beginning potty training tomorrow! Jacob is excited - and has already tried to go...maybe its because he gets a jelly bean for trying, but who cares, right? :) I have decided this time to not care so darn much and get ready for all the laundry...
It all began yesterday when we were at the store and Jacob wanted Cars fruit snacks. I have never bought fruit snacks before. I have been talking with Jacob a lot lately about trying again anf learning to go potty, and I have made sure that when we practice things like pulling pants down and washing hands that he knows those things will help him be ready - and I think it helped to give him confidence that he is ready. So, at the store I told him that the fruit snacks were for boys who learn to go on the potty...and he told me he wanted to and so I went out on a limb and let him pick 2 boxes for potty treats. I also let him pick some fun kinds of juice just for him for his "potty party days"...sooo lets pray it all comes together.
I have sticker charts and I also took him to the bookstore and got some bargain kids books and sticker books that are only for when he is on the potty.
I am trying to not make a big deal of it to myself and not have really high expectations. I know he will get it, at some point. He is really excited and has been telling me "tomorrow I will say 'bye bye diapers' and 'heeeelllllooooo underwear!" :) Any encouragement or advice you have would be wonderful. Here we go!
Also, I got a great email today that really helped me...I know it has to do with eternal things, but it really helped me with getting myself in the right frame of mind. Here is the quote:
"Our Heavenly Father loves each one of us and understands that this process of climbing higher takes preparation, time, and commitment. He understands that we will make mistakes at times, that we will stumble, that we will become discouraged and perhaps even wish to give up and say to ourselves it is not worth the struggle. We know it is worth the effort, for the prize, which is eternal life, is “the greatest of all the gifts of God.” And to qualify, we must take one step after another and keep going to gain the spiritual heights we aspire to reach."
