Kilts, Cows and Hot Rods...Oh My!!

It was the perfect day for a parade! Downtown Colorado Springs has some beautiful buildings and fun little shops - I am always up for a trip there...
Jacob was excited to see the parade. The last one we went to was the Christmas parade when he was 2...and he still remembers it vividly! He can even point out where we stood and what we saw....amazing!
I just loved this picture - I had a fun conversation with Jacob about the way the men are dressed. One day I hope to travel with our kids and show them other cultures. We are very much in the "starving student family" stage of life (well, we are a little more comfortable thanks to my hard working man who puts in a full days work on top of full time education...). Needless to say, I was excited for Jacob to see different cultures, as you will soon read...
Okay, I seriously looked at this and thought it was Jack Nicholson in a hot rod...either way, it will make you chuckle :). Jacob and Michael thought this car was pretty sweet.
Not only can they manage to ride these things..."Look mom! No hands!" :) We were quite impressed. After this they all put their feet up on the handlebars too.
I couldn't get Jacob to turn around to take a cute picture, so I settled for this one. A clown gave him the lollipop...I think he likes clowns now (after watching Dumbo he didn't like clowns much - he told me they were mean...lol).I only took this because we had an old station wagon - good memories! Anyone else sport one of these sweet babies? ;) Ours was blue - I think we named it Moby Dick...or Old Blue...I was little.
Who knew HAZMAT could look so good? :) The truck had its lights on and sirens blaring. It took me several minutes to assure Jacob there was no emergency and that it was okay to watch. He kept telling everyone to get out of the way! hahaha!
This one is for my mom - nothing like a cool old truck full of cowboys! :) We have been to their ranch and they are great performers/ musicians!
Hmmm...Chipotle. And you thought your burrito was huge :P. I had to include this because Chipotle is one of Michael and Jacob's favorite restaurants.
Dancing St. Patty's cows?? Sweet! You have not seen the YMCA until you've seen these guys. Their float had to stop in front of us, so we all got to dance with them.
You have to love the Shriner's... :) Jacob really wanted to drive one of those!
Yay! Bagpipes, drums and kilts - oh my! :) I wish I could have taken a picture of the look on Jacob's face when he saw the bagpipes...it was hilarious! He looked quite confused, and just said "Mom, what are they doing?" :)
The parade was much longer than we expected. After an hour and a half we called it a day - as you can see, Jacob was ready.
Michael works downtown, and his office was only 2 blocks away, so we went up and had our lunch there and relaxed for a while - their break room is sweet - I think ;P. Jacob loves going up to Michael's office - maybe its the M&M's his coworker keeps well stocked at all times...
It was a fun day together! Michael only had a few hours of sleep the night before - he is so amazing. He does it all!

COOL parade! Love the tall bicycles. What a fun experience for Jacob...and you guys too! The only parade we have in Rexburg is the 4th of July parade. It would be so fun to live near a large town/city to see the all the fun events and festivities!!!
