The Wicked Men

Jacob has been learning a lot about the scriptures lately, and I never realized before how many times you hear the words "the wicked men", especially in the scripture reader from the LDS Church. Jacob has mentioned that phrase several times lately...sometimes he tells me he is a wicked "men" (haha) and we talk about how we can feel good and happy inside when we are good, not wicked. The other day Jacob and I were reading in the Book of Mormon about the prophet Nephi. Jacob told me that when the wicked men came (in this particular story it was Nehpi's brothers) that he would jump into the book and get the wicked men, and throw them into the sea so that Nephi and Lehi would be safe. (Reading this is one thing, Jacob gets very passionate when talking about things like this...)
I have to say that I am beginning to see that Jacob, by nature, is a protector. He has always been one to try to keep others safe or help them; and even though he does his share of fighting, I have seen him step right in the middle of two friends and be the peacemaker. I have seen him "stand up to the big kid" on behalf of smaller kids and himself as well. He talks about those kinds of things often. Honestly, I think it felt good just to know he actually remembers things and thinks about them.
Tonight I was putting Jacob to bed, and he sang this little song to the tune of "A Child's Prayer":
"Heavenly Father I humbly ask you to not let me be a wicked men. The wicked men are so naughty and if I was a police man I would toss them into the sea or jail, Heavenly Father I won't be a wicked men, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
I have never heard him say the word "humbly" before...but that really got to me! So Jacob, this post is for you - to help you remember the kind of strong and determined spirit you are. I love you!

Calvin is like that too. He can be such a brat at home, but he always tries tomake people happy and settle fights. I love reading "wicked men" stories with the boys- so fun to see them get emotional about good guys winning, bad guys dying, and such-hahaha!

The Book of Mormon stories book is definitely full of those stories, which is great for little boys huh? =) That is a cute song, and it's awesome you wrote it down, so you can show it to him later, he'll love that!
