Yesterday Jacob, Sabella, Rachel and I watched the
Air Force Thunderbirds. They do a flyover show every year after the Air Force Academy Graduation. I think I took it for granted every year when I was growing up - its definitely a fun thing for us that we are lucky to live near.

We found a grassy spot with shade for Sabella, and broke out our picnic lunch to wait for the fun to begin. They don't begin the flyover until the graduation ceremony is over, and apparently
Joe Biden was rather long winded...because it began an hour late! Thankfully, Sabella was happy and Jacob had a fun lunch - then discovered the beauty of rolling down a great, soft hill!

The time passed pretty fast for us, just having fun together. Rachel was on her lunch hour, and she had to go back to work before the show even began. When they did soar up in front of us, it was quite a show!

Seriously, the pictures do not do it justice. We were closer than it seems here. It was a beautiful day here in Colorado Springs - I couldn't resist getting the beautiful view of Pikes Peak!

Sweet Sabella fell asleep, but it did not last long - those jets are loud, and they flew right over us!

They made different pictures in the sky - this was a heart with a line down the middle...

In the finale they made this - I think it might be a spider...?? It was so amazing and fun to see in person.

Jacob was having such a blast watching and running around.

Jacob has always loved jets and airplanes, and now he has some real life experience to feed his imagination :). The show itself was 45 minutes long - so he was pretty tuckered out by the end of it. He actually asked me to take this picture, I couldn't believe it! ;)

We got home tired, sunburnt (except Sabella) and happy! It was a great afternoon together!

Cool! I love the air shows!! I haven't been to one since I lived in Alaska, but my parents would take us every year to the base to watch the big show. I'm actually planning on going to one in Utah in June.
I miss pikes peak!
What fun! I'm bummed that we missed out on the airshow, but grateful for good friends with their handy cameras! ;) I bet Jacob is now playing all sorts of fun jet scenerios at home now. What great pics you took. We really do need to have our camera outing sometime....ha...I totally thought I typed cheerios above. crazy me.
