I love that little man of mine!

One of our bedtime books tonight was about whales. Jacob loves whales - any sea animal, really. He even went up to a librarian the other day and asked her where the sea animal books are...and we came  home with a big stack of books that we read from every day. Jacob has been using his imagination a lot lately. It began with "baby rocket ship" who is his first invisible "friend". Its hilarious to watch him interact with it. He holds it like a little fragile bug in his hands, plays with it, and either asks me to hold it (I always put it in my pocket) or he goes to the front door, opens it up and throws "baby rocket ship" out into the sky. He tells me that is when he goes to see his mom at the space station.

Jacob asked me tonight if we could have a humpback whale for a pet.
I have been getting by with a stuffed animal Shamu as his pet quite well. He feeds him every day, snuggles him in his bed at night, and even makes sure he has time to swim with him. We pretend that a big blue blanket on the floor is a water tank. I love such bright imagination!
Back to the request for a humpback whale pet...I told him that we did not live by an ocean to keep it in, and we didn't own an ocean either. He just smiled and told me that all we have to do is buy the airport and turn it into a giant swimming pool for the humpback. Then we would have to put it next to the bathtub so they could play together while Jacob had a bath. Wouldn't that be fun! :o) Then he informed me that the humpback would be a baby boy one, and we would have to bring his mom, too. She would stay in the giant tank and the baby could get in the bathtub with Jacob.
