Halloween

Well, I forgot the camera for most of the day - but thanks to Kathy and her awesome cell phone, I have a few - thank you Kathy! We had a great Halloween! We got up and went to have breakfast with Grandma C :). We have been doing that on a regular basis for a while now, its great! After that Jacob got back in his firefighter costume and we headed for Wal Mart to go trick-or-treating there with Kathy. There were more kids there that I thought there would be, but it was really fun! Jacob got to trick-or-treat at the gun counter (what a crazy idea...it was funny!). The ammo is in the glass in front of the kids:We also took on the extra challenge of finding hidden pictures in the store - we got them all and had got the special prize (a doughnut - man, talk about a day of fun fueled by a massive sugar high!). Jacob mustered a small thumbs up - he really just wanted to eat :P. Afterwords we went to lunch with Kathy and Kayla. Jacob had to get a picture of the lobsters, too - we go see them every time we shop, and every time they get new names. After an attempted nap time, we made our Halloween cake and played. I made some tin foil costumes so we could go to Chipotle and get free burritos - it was awesome not to have to make dinner! Michael wasn't able to leave work early, so we went up and saw him in his office and played while he finished - then it was off to Chipotle. I made Jacob a cool tin foil cover for his hat - Michael made himself a arm brace and I had a dutch girl hat-cover-thing...needless to say we looked pretty silly, but Chipotle itself looked like a huge meeting of people waiting for the mothership to beam them up, so we fit right in!
By that time it was dark and getting late (it was after 7pm by then), so we came home, had our cake, and played games. Michael had a ton of homework, so Jacob and I played. We played "The Wheels on the Bus" - it was a blast!

I think Jacob had a great Halloween. I guess I am "one of those" moms who does not get into Halloween very much.I love the dressing up and having fun part- we thought about going door to door, but by the time we got everything else done it was nice to have time to just play and not worry about getting candy.I figured that Jacob already went trick-or-treating 3 times, so he was set. We only had 1 trick-or-treater! In all the places we have lived (which is a lot - 5 moves in 4 years) we never get any people on Halloween. When I was a kid we loved apartments for trick-or-treating! After it all when I was snuggling with Jacob at bedtime he told me that his favorite part of Halloween wasn't trick-or-treating (I asked him...haha), it was playing with me in his room and laughing a lot - it was a great feeling.
I just looked over and Jacob lined his candy up and counted it all, and is now putting in back in the bag - thankfully its all accounted for! Hahaa....Happy Halloween!
