Oh, What Do You Do In The Summer Time?....

Tuesday was an amazing day! We woke up to a nice, warm sunny day - it felt just like summer! We got ready and went to the zoo - in tee shirts and sandals! Not too shabby for November 16:P. Jacob loves giraffes, but he gets freaked out by their tongues and wont feed them...at least I got a decent pic...giraffes are one of my favorites :)
The Kamodo Dragon was finally awake! It was the first time we have seen it move, haha! It walked around and then came up to the glass and just stared and Jacob...Harry Potter moment, anyone?? haha
Our lovely, sleeping, yet smiling hippo!
We sat for a while and watched the all the chimps play - this mom and baby were hilarious! The little baby was all over the place - it made me thankful for my little boy...he may be a handful, and I call him a monkey - but this little guy takes the cake!
Jacob insisted on me taking a picture of this sleeping skunk. Who knew they were so cute? Okay...other than in Bambi...when I am near one, I never look back long enough to see what they look like! Jacob didn't want to get too close to it because he heard another boy tell his mom it would "stink him", hahaha!
I was amazed at all the different animals we saw this trip. I think it was the best one we have had this year. By this time we were hungry and need to rest a little....so we got lunch and...
Went to Costco! haha. So much for resting. Jacob loved this dinosaur toy - you can ride on it, it moved and ate leaves...it was pretty cute. I think its a totally outrageous/impractical toy, but it was fun to play with at the store.
They had a Cadillac Escalade SUV toy (yet another crazy toy...that thing has more features than our car! lol) I could not get Jacob away from it! Jacob had to call Grandma Clifford and tell her that he was driving a truck just like hers (ironically, she has a black Escalade that Jacob loves to ride in). I admit I had visions of him as a teenager sneaking out and driving the car like most of my brothers did...oh my.
I actually have no explanation for this...I turned around to once again ask Jacob to come with me and he was making this face...by the time we were done shopping (and getting yummy samples for our afternoon snack! haha) even Jacob was asking to go home...we were both pretty wiped out, so we went to....
The park! haha...we met up with Kathy and Kayla to play for a while. I knew Jacob was worn out, but one look at the park and he perked right up! He loves playing with Kayla! She helped coach him through things he had never played on before - they are such great friends.
Jacob has been practicing pumping on the swings by himself - he does alright, but Kathy and I had so much fun talking, we must have stood there pushing the kids for at least half an hour. It was great for all of us, and the kids took full advantage of our conversation time to get a free ride!
The kids played for quite a while and it was getting close to dinner time. Kathy was so sweet and offered us pizza! So we went back to Costco (gotta love them!) and got pizza for dinner! We had such a great time talking and playing - it was a lovely afternoon in a great day! Thank you for bailing me out for dinner Kathy - it was so nice!
We went to pick Michael up from work, and of course Jacob fell asleep in the car - we got home and I learned the hard way not to out Jacob to bed before 6:30...he woke up around midnight and was up until 3am! My sweet husband was up with him and let me go to bed :).
I think Jacob and I both needed a day like that. With Michael's schedule (I truly do not know how he does it...) and the cold weather coming, we don't get too many days to just run around and do whatever. I was the queen of that before Jacob - so it was nice to feel that spark again. Today we had snow flurries and it was freezing, so I am glad we took full advantage of the last lovely, warm day of 2008.
