Yesterday Jacob saw my plethora of paint brushes in the closet and asked me if we could paint. It has been a while, and I have to admit that I was really wanted to work on some things myself...so I threw caution to the wind and we got it all out for some fun! As you can see my laundry is still drying... :P

I have to say that I loved it...and needed it. Jacob had a great time, too - we sat there painting for over an hour. Jacob talked with me a lot while we were paining...just little conversations. He has been saying for a while now that his favorite color is red, and yesterday he said that he also likes brown, they are his "two favorites". I had already painted the canvases brown for something I was working on a while ago, but it was fun to let Jacob have at it.

Jacob took this one of me working...man, I was really focused!
haha
Jacob also loved what he made on his paint
pallet and took some pictures of them. I think we both love mixing colors...we sat and laughed, talked about what we were doing. Jacob has become really good at his beginners color theory! He can tell you what colors to mix to make something else - primary, secondary and terciary. Most of it I didn't teach him at all, it was the fun things he discovered for himself mixing paint.

Jacob's picture of me painting. I was working on some frames for his room - they are not done yet. Jacob told me we could put his paintings up on the wall, so as soon as I know they are good and dry I am hanging them up! I'll have to take a picture then :)

Jacob's painting. He told me it looked like the earth and then described it to Michael with a sky, mountains and snow...I have no idea what was in his mind when he painted it - but for my 3 year old who has never painted like this before, I must say I am amazed.

He painted this one first - his favorite color! The texture is great on this one, and I think it looks really great in person - it was hard to get a good image on this one.

Jacob's creative curiosity has been
heightened lately. I have an "art bin" that he has in his room with all sorts of fun creative things...crayons, markers, glue, scissors, paper, stickers, pipe cleaners, random stuff...and he gets it out every day lately! I have no idea if he will want to explore art when he is older, but if I can at least give him an outlet, I am happy! Great job Jacob! I am so proud of you - and thankful to have you as my boy!

You make me want to get my oilpaints out. It has been years since I have painted a canvas. I hope that the tubes will open when I get around to it!!
You always have the sweetest blogs to your little Jacob. I love it! His paintings are really cool! And I can't wait to see the frames you were painting.
That is awesome! Those pictures are so great, and I'm sure he'll be so proud to show his paintings to everyone who comes into his room. I love it when my boys show interest in art. What a fun time painting you guys must have had!!!
It looks like you had so much fun. I can't wait to do that kind of stuff with Thomas. Jacob is such a cutie.
Good job Jacob! That is really cool that he is doing art with you, since you love it and majored in it. Looks like a fun time!
