We went to the Boo at the Zoo on Friday night with Kathy and Kayla. We all had dinner at our place, made some hot cocoa to bring and got the kids all dressed up. We had a great time!It was really dark, so the pics are not as good - here is Michael and "Fire Chief Jacob". He loved his costume - I put it together last minute, but I think it turned out :).
Ever seen Storm Troopers, Giraffes, Soldiers, a Sand Person, and a Lizard all in one place? Haha...I just put this here because I thought it was really random and funny! They had an outfit from Fort Carson there, and all the soldiers dressed up as Storm Troopers - Jacob got to shake hands with several of them (unfortunately the camera batteries were dead by then).
Jacob showing off his fire extinguisher. There were several stands with pretend fires - Jacob loved being able to "put out the fires".
Me and my little Fire Chief! I think he must have found another place to "Trick or Treat" when they took this one! We didn't explain Trick-or-Treating to Jacob beforehand because we didn't want it to be all about candy...so you can imagine how happy he was to see that all he had to do was go up to someone, say "trick-or-treat" and they gave him candy! He couldn't believe it!
Finally! We were at the Zoo when the lions were awake! Every time we have been before, the lions are sleeping! They were roaring really loudly, too!
We also got to feed a porcupine! Its not Jacob in this pic, but it was fun to see one so closely! The Zoo workers were on their toes with him - Jacob even tried to hug it - thankfully they were there to nicely intervene!
Jacob did get to hug an animal at the Zoo :). This little bear was at one of the stations - Jacob just walked right up to it and hugged it! There was a little person in there - who hugged him back, I think it was one of Jacob's favorite moments! He also ditched his fire hat within 30 minutes...
They had some carnival games as well, Jacob is doing a version of the ring toss with spiders! He was so happy to win a little toy spider...I however was not- he has already left it out and freaked me out with it! (I am not a bug person.)
This was the "Bat Toss". He has a rubber bat in his hand here - he got to throw several of them!
The camera was dying at this point- and I have no idea what was on the lens. Jacob was so tired by this point. We had a good time - but we thought it was not worth paying that much to do again. Now we know - I think the ward parties we had were just as fun - minus the lions. :)
We came home and played with flashlights in our dark apartment for a while - that was also a great part of the night...
