The first snow of the year!!

We woke up this morning to our first snow of the season! Jacob was SO excited! Michael showed him the snow out the window and he said "Mom, it snowed! At 5 it will be Christmas!" I told him about all the holidays we still have to celebrate before Christmas, and he was even more excited. It was all I could do to get some breakfast in him - he wanted to go outside so bad...so we bundled up and headed out the door. Thankfully I stalled him until the sun came out.
As you can see, it was not a ton of snow - but plenty to play in. Jacob brought a dump truck with him that he soon filled with snow - after throwing some at me first.
I am always amazed to see nice green grass under the snow...
I made my first snowman of the year! I decided his name was Tiny Tim...he lived a long and happy life...sitting in the shade so he wouldn't melt too soon...Jacob thought he was a great little snow man, too...Jacob decided to play with Tiny Tim...
Then Jacob came through with his dump truck and this is what was left of Tiny Tim...(including the chunk on the bottom of Jacob's shoe) haha!Yesterday when Jacob and I were outside I was trying to find a pile of leaves for him to play in - and kept wondering how I could make that happen - I have great memories as a kid of playing in the leaves and I really wanted Jacob to have that experience. Well, when we came outside later in the day, the wind was blowing, and it made a big pile of leaves right there at the bottom of the stairs! I know its a small thing, but I felt like Heavenly Father blessed us with that - not because we needed it, but because he knew both of our hearts would be so happy! It was a small testimony to me that Heavenly Father loves us and wants to bless us with joy and love. So we jumped in the pile of leaves, threw them around and played for a while last night...this pic is from this morning...they were still here, so we played in them again!
Jacob insisting on driving his truck on every stair with snow on it...just something funny that is SO Jacob! :)
When we got home we put on dry clothes and had hot chocolate and the fun pumpkin cookies Katie brought over yesterday. They were great! With a toast to the first snow of the year and some giggles...it was a lovely morning.
Cute cookies, Katie!

Christmas by 5:00? That is too cute! I can't wait to have a kid so that I am excited about the snow - right now all I can think about is "Does nature hate me? Does it really have to be this cold in October?"
