2 Planes and 2 Trains = One BIG day!

Our flight left Denver at 6am, so Michael and I were up at 3:30 to get ready (ouch). We grabbed Jacob out of bed and headed out the door for the hour and a half drive. Jacob was so excited to be leaving that he did not go back to sleep at all on the ride to the airport! He kept talking and asking questions. It was so hard to say goodbye to Michael. Two weeks is a long time to be apart, and I was surprised at how much Jacob understood. He was sad for a while, but thanks to unlimited long distance, we talked on the phone every day, which helped.
All along the way people were so nice to us - even the security workers. I forgot about the underground train at DIA - a wonderful surprise for Jacob. He said "Wow, mom! I didn't think I would ride a train, too!" He was so exhausted by the time we got on the plane - but ready for adventure! He thought it was pretty cool to get on the plane in the dark.
He was such a great travel buddy! We talked and laughed for a while. The flight attendants were so sweet to him and let him talk with them all about the plane. I was also thankful for my Ipod! Michael loaded it up with movies shows for Jacob -it was awesome to have it all in one place!
We had a layover in Dallas, and if you have ever been to the Dallas airport, you know about their crazy long train system! Jacob had a blast! We had a bit of a ride, so Jacob decided that he was the driver. There were a few other people on the train, and Jacob would ask them if it was their station, and if it was he would smile and say "Goodbye! Have fun on your plane!"After some breakfast, it was time to get on another plane. That's when Jacob discovered the plane safety manual and could not get enough of it! :) Right after take-off he fell asleep. :) I have to say that I had a blast travelling with my boy! Our flight got in at 1pm, which was awesome - plenty of time to play with family! The Moody's (my sister's family) have a really fun backyard. Megan and Katelyn helped Jacob get to know it ;). Jacob barely spoke to me from then on - he had so many fun cousins to play with, I was there to make sure he was fed, clothed and didn't get into trouble (and even then I was at times the second choice, haha).
The warm sunshine felt amazing! It had just snowed here in Colorado two days before we left. We were in heaven! My sister, Vera lives in north St. Augustine/south Jacksonville. It is a truly beautiful area! You'll see in future posts that we went to Ponte Vedra Beach :).

What a great travel buddy! I love it when kids act better then they should, in already stressful situations like traveling.

growing up,my dad always worked for the airlines so I flew everywhere several times a year. I grew up flying!- Now that I'm married and pennyless, it makes me so sad to think that my kids have never even been on an airplane before!

I can't wait to see the rest of your trip!!!
