Ward Christmas Party

Our Ward Christmas Party this year had a Bethlehem theme. We all dressed up like people from the time of Christ's birth, and they had great decorations and food from that time as well - it was awesome! Jacob and I went to the thrift store earlier and found some great stuff for super cheap...we spent some time before the party figuring out costumes, it was a lot of fun!
Jacob wanted to look just like Michael, who was playing a shepherd in the program.  Michael is in the middle of finals, and had been averaging 50+ hour work weeks on top of that - he had only 3 hours of sleep in the last 2 days (honey, you are amazing!)...I think the 5 o'clock shadow works for this one :). Jacob told us that he was a "shepherd boy". Here are my two shepherds  :)
They told the story of the Nativity with words and songs, and afterwords they handed out candy canes to the audience. Jacob got really excited and got to help Michael pass out candy canes.
Looks cool, huh? :) Michael is kneeling in the front. A couple in the ward with a little baby boy played Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. Jacob was so excited - he loved seeing a real baby up there.
Here is Michael as a shepherd being "sore afraid". Jacob and I talked about it before, and he would always giggle and tell me that "Daddy is soooooo afraid". Michael told me later that the light they used really was incredibly bright - he said he had to cover his eyes because they were beginning to burn! It worked well for the program...
They even had Jacob's well - so naturally Jacob wanted to see his own well...I don't think he knows what a well really is, but I was excited that he saw the sign and recognized his name :P.
It was a fun night! We had great food, wonderful friends there and a nice program. Seeing the Bishop in a bathrobe over a suit was pretty funny as well...and my brother with a towel on his head. Good times...good times.

Thanks for posting this, Ruth. We forgot to bring our camera.

That was the skinniest flock of sheep I ever saw!

I knew Michael was a big man, but his shepherd garb made him seem ever larger.

This little program was a fun and reminded me what it must have been like for Joseph and Mary.

That is awesome! I think the last time I was in a ward that did anything this amazing was when I was little in Anchorage, AK. What a great way to celebrate Christams! I love your costumes!! Poor Michael, I totally understand what he is going through right now, my Michael is too. Not fun for the guys! We're in a mess right now because Michael just got a promotion, which will switch him from day shift(6:30am-3) to night shift(3-11:30pm), meaning he'll also have to switch his school classes from the night track to a day track, which may or may not allow him to get into the last few classes he needs! YIKES! I can't wait for him to be done once and for all!!!
