Christmas Morning

Well, we are happy to say that Santa found us! :) In our family, Santa brings the stockings, which we open first. Jacob was so happy with his stocking, we could have stopped there (I love that about Jacob - with birthday's, Christmas, he is always so happy with 1 or 2 things...I pray it stays that way!) Santa brought one of our all time favorites : Play dough with all the fun tools
Michael loved helping Jacob open gifts, his and the gifts for our family.Jacob's main gift was his policeman's helmet with the steering wheel...he loves getting to run around everywhere chasing things or catching the bad guys!
We had a great Christmas! We are the slow pokes with opening gifts though - I think we just love those first moments of excitement and laughter... Christmas is definitely better as a parent than it was as a child.
After a huge, yummy breakfast we packed up and headed home to get ready to go see my family for a little while. I love Christmas Day with my parents and siblings. No matter what is happening around us, Christmas always felt like a day apart from it all when we just enjoyed each other, told the same stories, ate good food, watched our kids play together and caught up with what we were each going through. This year was so exception.
After spending time with my family, we headed back to Kathy and Dave's to be with Michael's family for Christmas dinner. There was a big ham, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans with bacon and garlic, rolls...it was fun being in the kitchen with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. I always feel closer to people when we are cooking - it was lovely.
I made a calendar for Michael that did not come until the day after Christmas - which I was quite sad about, but hey, at least it's here! Michael and I had to laugh at each other...every time Michael asked me what I wanted for Christmas I told him I wanted warm socks (really, I did!) and he would always tell me he wanted pants. So - on Christmas I got 14 pairs of socks (good ones...which I LOVE) and he got mostly pants! I guess that's what happens when you are where we are at in life (most of you are there as well...) you get what you need with a few little fun things...we had a good laugh at ourselves. I wonder if my in-laws think I have some sort of sock obsession...who knows, maybe I do. ;)
